Injection molding machine with chiller, four tips on how to choose the right chiller

Release time: 2024-11-29 13:39:58

During the production process of injection molding machines, it is necessary to cool down the molds to achieve rapid solidification of plastics, improve product quality, and increase production efficiency. The addition of a chiller is essential here. The chiller is used in injection molding machines to achieve rapid solidification of plastics through four steps: extrusion, bottle blowing, thermal plasticity, and hydraulic system. This shows the importance of chillers for injection molding machines. So, how to choose a suitable chiller and provide some reference suggestions for everyone.

1、 What factors should be considered when selecting a chiller

In the production of injection molding machines, more than 80% of the molding cycle of plastic products is used for cooling molding. Therefore, shortening the cooling time is the key to improving production and enhancing efficiency. However, shortening the cooling time depends on the amount of ice water energy. Excessive ice water energy can lead to excessive energy consumption and waste, while insufficient ice water energy cannot achieve the best cooling effect. In mold cooling, the selection of ice water energy depends on its specific heat capacity with the molding material, the temperature and weight during sol formation, and the temperature during product demolding.

In mold cooling, the selection of ice water pressure is generally between 0.1-0.2 Mpa. When it exceeds 0.2 Mpa, a chiller with greater strength is needed to meet such pressure requirements.

2、 The relationship between the temperature difference between ice and water in a chiller and the change in flow rate

The cooling temperature of different plastic products is also not the same, which creates the required temperature difference between ice and water for cooling. The optimal temperature difference between ice and water is generally between 3 ℃ and 5 ℃, but sometimes it can also occur between 1 ℃ and 2 ℃. In terms of temperature difference, the smaller the temperature difference, the more ice water flow is required to carry away the same amount of heat, and conversely, the smaller the ice water flow required. This is the knowledge that needs to be mastered when choosing a chiller.

3、 The impact of ice water quality on the use of chillers

In the use of a chiller, attention should be paid to softening the water and monitoring the pH value of the water to prevent corrosion and mold damage caused by pH values greater than 7. Therefore, it is possible to consider installing an electronic softener to avoid damage to the machine caused by hard water.

4、 Reference for the selection of injection molding machines and chillers under conventional conditions

If the cooling water condensation temperature of the water-cooled chiller is below 35 ℃ and the injection molding machine is used at normal ambient temperature, there are several matching methods:

The 1HP water-cooled chiller can be equipped with an 80 ton locking force injection molding machine, with temperature control between 5-10 degrees Celsius;

The 1HP water-cooled chiller can be equipped with a 100 ton locking force injection molding machine, with temperature controlled at 10-15 degrees Celsius;

1 HP water-cooled chiller can be equipped with a 120 ton locking force injection molding machine, with temperature control at 15-20 degrees Celsius

In addition, the 1HP water-cooled chiller can be equipped with an injection molding machine with a single injection volume of 10 QZ, and the temperature can be controlled at 5-10 degrees Celsius (Injection volume 1QZ=28.5g)

The chiller plays a crucial role in the production of injection molding machines, so selecting a suitable chiller can better improve production efficiency.
